Framework on the Wally Byam Holiday

Well, I’ve been working on getting the Wally trailer out from under it’s house for some time.  It’s so easy to get side-tracked on other projects.  Anyway, I finally pulled it out.  There wasn’t a lot of support for the floor; the frame only had three cross members, which gave it very little strength.  There was no outer frame to support the edges of the floor so it flexed a lot, and it had torn the existing linoleum at the seams through out the trailer.  The frame was also bent from the jack to just ahead of the axel and had to be straightened.  So I had the welder straighten it, and add framing to support the floor and frame to give the trailer strength.  It turned out well. The ’54 Wally Byam Holiday trailer frame was home by Thanksgiving weekend.  This weekend I set out to cut out new flooring and drill new anchor points.  What fun.    I’m hoping to get the house back on the trailer within the next couple of weeks.  There – my update.

1955 Flying Coud,Bunk House

This is a nice 1955 Flying Cloud that we just picked up on 11/5.  Someone has turned it into a bunkhouse so that it could sleep 7 people – five in the back bunks and two up front.  It’s very fun, but at some point I would like to return it to its original floor plan, unless it was done by Airstream – just not sure – hope to find out.

Wow, Wally is off the frame!

Well I did it – Wally, the trailer, is off its frame.  That was hard.  The house is still in one piece.  When it frist came off the floor, it wanted to spread outward.  I had to stop that fast or it was all over.  I blocked the house agianst stops on the beams I used.  That worked great; it looks odd.
